Ether: Aromatic Mythologies is Craft Contemporary’s first scent-based art exhibition, which presents an array of olfactory-centric art works and installations. Curated by Saskia Wilson-Brown, the exhibition explores mythologies from various parts of the world in a narrative tapestry that transcends time and place. Se Young Au spoke about exploring grief within the Korean diaspora, shaped by Japanese colonialism and US military violence, the No Gun Ri massacre, and Korean burial traditions like the chobun, a temporary straw gravesite. Sarana Mehra spoke about drawing on mythologies and ancient fragments preserved in museums to assemble contemporary monuments, presented as future archaeological relics.
