Co-curated by musician and artist Sasami, GYOPO Diasporic Refractions: Symposium brought into conversation musicians, scholars, and performers who drew upon their chosen crafts and Korean heritage to examine, deconstruct, and alter systems of oppression. To resist, survive, and reinvent has been an intrinsic part of the Korean experience. Artist presentations and a roundtable discussion engaged different perspectives on being creative practitioners and part of the Korean diaspora. This symposium was part of GYOPO Diasporic Refractions: Installations, Symposium, Performances, a programmatic collaboration between GYOPO and LA Phil Insight.
