Artist Yaloo, faculty in the School of Film/Video at CalArts, led a walkthrough of her immersive exhibition Shininho Docking, which re-imagines her grandmother Shininho as a K-pop idol and pirate ship captain, bringing together human and non-human realms while drawing on the mythology of maritime trade routes around the Pacific Rim. Using diverse media—including holograms, 3D animations, sculptures, and soundscapes—Yaloo transforms personal histories into universal reflections on aging, technological advancement, ancient spiritual practices, and the interconnected histories of the Pacific region.
